Thank You !!!!

First and foremost.....Thank you to my very first paying....yes, paying customers. Thank you for loving the cupcakes enough to buy them.
I must say...our cupcakes are made with love and care. I know Amanda feels the same way, they are like our little babies...but, babies that will be thrown in the garbage if you don't come out right...lol.
Freshness is key and we fret over timing. So the adventure began......The first order needed to go out at 7 in the morning. The dilemma was, do I get up at 3 or do I make them really late at night. Ray opted for me, really late at night.
I waited until everyone was in bed to start. That was around 11. Stout cupcakes came out great. You still need to wait for them to cool before you frost. I don't make the butter cream ahead because it will start to set. Vanilla was stubborn. It always amazes me that you can use the same recipe over and over and it will still crash now and then....first batch into the trash. Second one came out great...go figure.
At 1:30 Ray came down stairs and scared me to death, you just don't sneak up on a baker late at night. I am standing there with my snow cap on...I don't have hair nets so I put it on and tuck all my hair in. It looks like I am going to rob the cupcakes.
2:30 everything was cleaned up, but I continued to worry about those babies out on the service porch. It is nice a cool out there.
Worries for nothing....Everyone seemed to like them and I love to make them.
Thank you again and keep the orders coming. It was to late for pictures so I will post some next time.

New Recipe !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I feel kind of like the kid on Christmas Story, when he was visiting Santa and he couldn't remember what he wanted........Wake up stupid !!!!! That is what I said to myself ....when I realized....I can make my own vanilla cupcake recipe....and that is what I did this morning.

I cant believe that worked....here are my results....a soft, velvety white cupcake and a mile high fluffy white frosting....its not butter cream...it is more like white mountain....but easier.

I am very happy with the result..

Yesterday's tragedy is today's triumph !

Here they are. Yummy Yellow Cupcakes !!! at least that is what I am calling them. Everyone gave them the thumbs up. Recipie was easy, batter was thick, but they only made 12, still not bad.

We will need a few more trial bakes to add them to the final list, but I am really pleased overall.

Vanilla is defianently not plain !!!!

Again I am on the quest to find a perfect vanilla cupcake. One that consistant everytime. One you can add anything to and will come out perfect.

This quest is not easy...and after research, I am not the only baker with this delema. After all what is a bakery if you cant conquer the vanilla.....:)
Last night I thought I had found it. The recipe was beautiful....the batter was beautiful...I gently filled the tins and popped them into the oven. This is it I said my search is over. I wasn't going to look until the timer sounded, but I did.
I turned on the light and watched them rise gracefully. As they reached the top, a giant bubble ascended and popped, and they crashed right to the bottom of the tin. If that wasn't bad enough they were not coming out of the tin. I didn't even bake the rest. All went into the trash including the recipe.
I have learned over and over that vanilla is picky, fussy, dainty.....a pain. But I love vanilla so the quest continues and it wont beat me. I will find the perfect ones......Vanilla part two is in the oven as we speak.....:)

Pulling it together

I am still on the quest of pulling Cupcake A Sugar Boutique together. I have officially sent off the name registration for the State of Ohio, I assume they have recieved it, because I am already getting mail for the business......funny.
I started ordering supplies and making lables and of course testing new recipies, some that flop...:) We have nailed down a great and faithful chocolate and red velvet.
So much to do and so little time...well....actually I have all the time I want. Just want to get the details done by the end of the month....fingers crossed.
Next time, I should have some pictures of great cupcakes. I am going to make lemon cream cakes next......yum !!!!!
