What to write in the first post?! It is going to set the tone for this entire blog! No pressure?!! Ok! Here goes... Welcome to the beginning of a leap into the unknown! Two moms, mother and daughter, June Cleaver wannabes :) setting out to leave their mark on the baking world! I should start from the beginning and build some rapport! That is what a good business woman would do! I have been baking cupcakes in my spare time for a while now. For fun, for a party or two, for stress relief (baking is far cheaper than retail therapy!). People say to me on occasion "you should really charge for these!" I say to myself maybe one day! Well today is that day!! My ultra fabulous mother moves to Perrysburg, Ohio for her husband's new job! Last month my small spontaneous family jumped in the car and drove 18 hours for a weekend visit! Let me just tell you! This town is like nothing I have ever seen! It is historic, charming, active and in need of a bakery/after dinner dessert-coffee spot! I say to her as we stroll downtown "we should open a cupcake bakery/coffee shop! It will be fabulous! This town needs us!! Really!" She says to me "I think I was born to do something like this!" It is Sunday night after dinner 7ish... we see a couple strolling down the street passing the closed shops and closed coffee shop... We really see them! This couple would be in our shop having a cupcake right now!! That is all it took! Here we are! On a journey to change our lives and change the cupcake world forever!! First Perrysburg! Then the world! Ready or not.... Here we come!! So we start researching the bakery business and we set our ovens to 350!
The status report as of today: Product development is in full swing! The ovens have been preheated and cupcakes are coming out at full speed in a full array of flavors and colors! We have decided on our chocolate and white velvet batters! They will serve as our delicious, moist and fluffy, everyday, gotta have staples! We have crafted a cream cheese icing you could eat with a spoon and a just as worthy butter cream! Jill has gone above and beyond with an amazing chocolate ganache! She is such a show off!! :) We are stocking up on every piping tip they sell because here is the vision...
Make a cupcake that is beyond delicious! The kind of cake you crave in the middle of the night! The kind of cake that, I dare say it, you dream about in your sleep! Not only does it need to be delicious, but it needs to look fabulous! We are not talking just a dash of sprinkles people! So beautiful you don't want to eat it!! But of course you eat it because you can't help yourself! Where do you buy these dream like cupcakes you ask?! The future holds a shop on main street! We want you to enjoy that cupcake in a place that is super chic, yet comfortable! We want you to linger with your cupcake and coffee chatting with your friends!
